I for 1 will be keeping my finger crossed regarding this one. Especially since their latest album is doing so well, it would be foolish to not have Coldplay at next years festival.

And another one

Oasis rule out Glastonbury 2009

October 17, 2008 · Filed Under Glastonbury 2009 · 3 Comments

The band say they will concentrate on their tour instead of Glastonbury.
The lead singer Noel says Oasis wont be playing at Glastonbury 2009. It is said that Oasis have said they will not be performing at next year’s Glastonbury festival and will instead concentrate on their stadium tour. A massive blow to Oasis fans i would assume.

Speaking at the announcement of the stadium gigs guitarist Noel Gallagher said the group have no intentions of filling one of the slots at the event.

He said he is a big fan of the festival but that the band have never performed well there and next year they will not take part.

“Glastonbury is great to be at but it’s not really good for people like me to play at because you don’t go on until 11 at night and all the people you’re with by that time are absolutely battered,” Noel stated.

Kasabian have been confirmed as special guests for Oasis’ 2009 UK stadium tour. This announcement has sparked discussion at various places around the net and many are making their own conclusions as to the dates for the Oasis tour - being close to the time of year Glastonbury is set for. Jay-Z Boosts Glastonbury 2009 Ticket Sales

October 13, 2008 · Filed Under Glastonbury 2009 · Comment

Hip-hop titan Jay-Z has proved he has the Midas touch - half the tickets available for next year’s (09) Glastonbury
festival were snapped up within hours.

The 99 Problems hitmaker was blamed for poor ticket sales at the 2008 event, with some critics insisting hip-hop acts didn’t belong at such a rock-orientated festival.

However, Jay-Z thrilled fans with his headlining slot at the event in June (08), and opened the doors for other rap stars to perform at similar shows.

And now, Glastonbury bosses have revealed that half of the total number of tickets for 2009’s festival were snapped up as soon as they went on sale on Sunday (05Oct08).

The move has come as a confidence booster for festival organisers because fans won’t know any of the headline acts until early next year (09).

Glastonbury spokesman John Shearlaw tells the Bbc, “We are very calm about it - it’s a vote of confidence.

It’s brilliant that here we are in October talking about a festival that isn’t happening until next year.”
